The notorious Dublin gangster Robbie Lawlor believed to be behind the gruesome Narcos-style murder of teenager Keane Mulready-Woods has been shot dead.

Investigators believe the north Dublin gang boss was gunned down in the Ardoyne area of Belfast earlier today.

Police in Northern Ireland are liaising with gardai over the gangland-style execution, which happened around 11:50 this morning (Saturday).

The shooting victim was blasted several times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Three men have been arrested in relation to the shooting

Detectives in the North launched a murder enquiry this afternoon following the fatal shooting in the Etna Drive area of Ardoyne at around 11.50am.

RTE reports that detectives in Northern Ireland are investigating if the three men they are holding travelled from the Republic with the victim to the scene of the shooting.

Police Service of Northern Ireland detectives are also following up on leads that the victim may be behind a slew of gangland killings - including that of Drogheda youngster Mulready-Woods.

The 17 year old was stabbed and dismembered in a 'Narcos-style' killing that shocked the nation.

Keane was murdered on January 12 of this year. A day later, a group of teens in Coolock made the shocking discovery in a bag in the Moatview area of the north Dublin surburb.

Two days later more of the teen's parts were found in a burning car in Trinity Terrace just off Clonliffe Road in Drumcondra.

A PSNI spokesperson said this afternoon: "Detectives from the Major Investigation Team investigating the murder of a man in North Belfast this morning have arrested three men on suspicion of murder.

"They have been taken to Musgrave Police Station where they are currently being questioned."

SDLP North Belfast Councillor Paul McCusker said that people in Ardoyne are in shock following the incident.

Cllr McCusker said: “This brutal crime has cause immense shock in Ardoyne today. My thoughts are with this man’s family at an incredibly difficult time.

“Police have locked down a large part of the community where the shooting took place and near a burned out car nearby. I would urge everyone to cooperate with PSNI officers as they investigate."
