Ricciardo says Verstappen was “Immature”
Renault’s current driver Daniel Ricciardo was seen as a sensational young talent when he joined Red Bull and outperformed four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel during his first year with the team.
After the arrival of Max Verstappen things at Red Bull got closer in term of on-track competitiveness.
Ricciardo took a look at what he thinks might have given Verstappen the edge over him
"I think it had a lot to do with his age. Sometimes he was a bit immature, but that also had its advantages. He didn't care that he annoyed people or that he took a lot of risks. Actually, he didn't care about anything."
"He was just like, 'I'm going there to race this car as fast as I can'. He probably just didn't understand the additional responsibility. It was all or nothing with him and that was cool because I could work towards it."
He also feels that he might have been a bit too careful which further made things difficult for him
"Sometimes in comparison I was just too nice to the car myself. We did push each other to the limit though."
He would eventually end up at Renault, a move that caught many in F1 off guard including Red Bull team principal Christian Horner.
“I was disappointed at the time because I’d put a lot into trying to retain Daniel and get him to stay"
"I just couldn’t understand his decision-making and if I take off my Red Bull hat I couldn’t understand his logic behind the move that he made. If it was for Mercedes or Ferrari I could have understood that”
Vettel Discusses Contract Talks
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel has garnered a lot of interest over the past few months regarding the status of his future in F1
"We have time in the coming weeks and as it looks now the next Grand Prix will not take place for the time being, unfortunately, but it will give us time to cover more ground in that regard".
"I think whatever deal it's gonna be, it's gonna be a deal I and the team will feel comfortable with. So as far as the duration is concerned, no idea"
He summed up his words by suggesting that Ferrari too has some tricks up its sleeves and hence he isn’t too worried about Mercedes’ DAS system
"I don't think that will determine whether Mercedes wins races or not. One must also admit that Formula 1 is about details and that is one of the details. We also have some things about our car that can make the difference"
Triple headers will be an assault on drivers’ necks
Multiple triple headers or races on three consecutive weekends has been suggested by many in F1 as a way to conduct as many races as possible in 2020.
Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Giovinazzi has revealed the challenges F1 drivers will face if they suddenly have to get into a really hectic schedule
"I think it will be completely difficult. When we come back to Barcelona after the winter break, after the first day your neck is completely destroyed. It will be tough will but it will be the same for everyone."
