How to Stand Out from the Crowd

How to Stand Out from the Crowd

Whenever you want to do something extraordinary in your life, you're going to be directly influenced by a phenomenon known as Social Quicksand (also known as social conformity).

In this video, I will tell you how to rise above the uncomfortable feeling of standing out from the crowd. If you've ever thought "What will my friends think?" about your following your dreams, here's an eye-opening strategy to help you get "unstuck" from the Social Quicksand.

I'll give you a personal example from my own experience in setting up a new business, as well as three tips to help you proactive create a supportive, stand-out-from-the-crowd group of peers to surround yourself with.

I'll also tell you about a series of social psychology experiments in the study of human social conformity known as the Asch Conformity studies. What would you do if you entered an elevator, facing toward the door, and five people came in and stood facing the back wall? Would you turn around, too? Would you conform, or stay put? This line of research directly backs up my key point about standing out from the crowd -- it can be uncomfortable! But it doesn't have to be. When you're surrounded by other confident people who are marching to the beat of their own drums, standing out becomes the most natural thing in the world.
