COVID-19 rate of death, or the known deaths divided by confirmed cases, was over four percent in Italy and nine other world countries. This according to a comparison after combining coronavirus stats for 44 different countries with 1,000 or more confirmed cases. The aforementioned four percent was the overall percentage across the world for the coronavirus, according to the WHO. Note, however, that this rate is not the same as the chance of dying from an infection or the so-called mortality rate (which reflects the number of deaths based on an at-risk population).
