It saddens and angers me to see the hate and fear and racism in the world right now, especially as a Korean-American singer. Asians all over are being targeted and attacked because of the prejudice that comes with news about the coronavirus pandemic. It's like we've forgotten that no matter what happens in the world, we are all just humans with slightly different traits. Instead of the hating, we need to be celebrating diversity. I've got a father. I've got a mother. I am just like you.
I've got a color like all the others. We are just like you.
This video was filmed before the COVID-19 quarantine in hopes to celebrate and embrace diversity. I gathered people with different backgrounds and personalities who might represent other people who may feel like outsiders in one way or another throughout their lives by minority oppression in multi-cultural socieites: racial minorities (Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Black, Indian, Hispanic, Latino, Egyptian, German, Irish, Polish, Jewish, etc.), LGBTQ+ (gay, lesbian, transgender, etc.), women, artists, musicians, dancers, spiritualists, and anyone else. Fans from different places also sent in lip-syncing selfie videos.
Despite how we may identify as, the world still categorizes us and puts us into its categorized communities. We must embrace our differences rather than be ashamed of them because we are all beautiful in our own ways.
Help spread the message of love and share with friends and family and whoever else might need a reminder.
