I completely forgot to mention how much I earn from book sales! (Oops!) My book sells for $14.99 on Amazon. For every sale, I earn about $6.00, the publishers get about $4.00, and Amazon gets about $5.00. (And just in case you're wondering, $6.00 per sale is actually a lot more than many authors get from traditional publishing deals.)
There's also an ebook version of my book, which sells for $7.00. I get about $3.50 for each ebook sale.

What's better, self-publishing or traditional publishing? They each have their pros and cons, but self-publishing gives you a lot more creative opportunities, allows you to directly control the success of your book, and generally is more profitable for the author.
Wondering how to get self-published? I used a service called Create Space ( an Amazon partner company. They publish books "print on demand" style, which is a MUCH more affordable way to get published.
